Who am I today?

"Who am I today"? I ask
and I wonder if I'll ever know;
I know the past has shaped me now,
Though the past was long ago.
The little moments form a blur,
The times both happy and sad,
All the people I once knew,
And the things I used to have.
They all helped me to become
Where,what and who I am now,
And everything has influenced me
Though I'm not sure exactly how.
But I'm thankful for the memories,
From everyone I've ever met -
People I miss and people I love,
Even people I'd like to forget.
For these memories have helped me grow,
They've made me calm , yet strong,
And now there's a story to my life,
That they've been writing all along.
So,thank you for the memories,
Without them , who would I be ?-
Because somewhere in my memories
Are the things that define me.

garam masala

i love to use garam masala in almost everything i make....it gives wonderful flavour and aroma to food.....you do get garam masala readymade in stores but i feel my mom makes it the best....giving u my mom's recipe of garam masala...its not too complex and u can make some n store it for a long time it doesnt get spoilt or anything...so once its ready u just have to sprinkle a dash of it for amazing food

ingredients : (clockwise)
small elaichi (cardomom) ,laving (cloves),samudraphul , big elaichi ,black pepper , taj (cinnamon), avantri javantri ,tej patta ,dagad phul

method :
all the ingredients have to be taken in equal proportion and roasted very lightly separately (just to remove the moisture) and then grind to make powder....

dont know english names of each of the spice....those of my cousins abroad m sure in indian grocery store u ll get these spices even if u say indian names...

once u use it u ll get addic…

basic gravy...

this is the basic gravy.....its quite a simple one...and once u make this gravy perfectly you can cook lots of dishes like pav bhaji , rajma,chole,biryani ,pizza , macroni ,bharta n lots more...
will share all these recipes from time to time...

ingredients:
1 large onion (or 2 medium sized) finely chopped2 large tomato (or 3 medium sized) finely choppeddry masala : 1 teaspoon red chilly powder ,1/2 teaspoon turmeric (haldi) ,2 teaspoon dhaniya jeera powder (coriander seed and cumin powder)1/4 teaspoon garam masala1 teaspoon green chilly and ginger paste3-4 pods of garlic crushed2 tablespoon cooking oilsalt to taste method :
saute finely chopped onion in oil in a pan...
add green chilly and ginger paste and garlic paste to the onions once the onions appear transparent...
once the onions r cooked add the all the dry masala to onions except garam masala...
once the masala is cooked add tomatoes to onions..add salt in proportion to the gravy...


mix whatever else has to be mixed dependin…

nutrella pulav

this one is for u palakdidi.....

ingredients :
1 medium bowl rice1 medium bowl soya chunks (nutrella)1 large onion (or 2 medium sized) finely chopped
1 large tomato (or 2 medium sized) finely chopped
dry masala : 1 teaspoon red chilly powder ,1/2 teaspoon turmeric (haldi) ,2 teaspoon dhaniya jeera powder (coriander seed and cumin powder)1/4 teaspoon garam masala1 teaspoon green chilly and ginger paste1/2 teaspoon garlic paste
2 tablespoon cooking oilsalt to tastemethod :
semiboil soya chunks..add salt to it while its boiling..throw away the water..(or use it to cook rice later)
on the other burner in a pressure cooker saute finely chopped onion in oil..
add green chilly and ginger paste and garlic paste to the onions once the onions appear transparent...
once the onions r cooked add the all the dry masala to onions except garam masala...
once the masala is cooked add tomatoes to onions..add salt in proportion to the gravy.
add the semiboiled soya chunks to the gravy....add garam masala at th…
