ingredients :

- 1 medium bowl rice
- 1 medium bowl soya chunks (nutrella)
- 1 large onion (or 2 medium sized) finely chopped
- 1 large tomato (or 2 medium sized) finely chopped
- dry masala : 1 teaspoon red chilly powder ,1/2 teaspoon turmeric (haldi) ,2 teaspoon dhaniya jeera powder (coriander seed and cumin powder)
- 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon green chilly and ginger paste
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic paste
- 2 tablespoon cooking oil
- salt to taste
method :
semiboil soya chunks..add salt to it while its boiling..throw away the water..(or use it to cook rice later)
on the other burner in a pressure cooker saute finely chopped onion in oil..
add green chilly and ginger paste and garlic paste to the onions once the onions appear transparent...
once the onions r cooked add the all the dry masala to onions except garam masala...
once the masala is cooked add tomatoes to onions..add salt in proportion to the gravy.
add the semiboiled soya chunks to the gravy....add garam masala at this stage..
after 2 min of letting the chunks simmer in the gravy add rice to the gravy...add salt again in proportion to rice..
add water such that wen u dip ur finger in (any finger) it water level should reach the first line on ur finger...thats the measurement for cooking rice anytime....this is imp as if the water is more or less than this the rice will either get over cooked or undercooked..
then just shut the lid of pressure cooker...and let it cook til it gives one whistle...
cook it on medium flame...not too large flame..
once cooked wait for cooker to cool down then open it n enjoy delicious pulav
