apple crumble

Mitu was after me since a while to make this....first time i had eaten this was at my mama's home, made by Ba...it was supertasty and I was hooked on to this tasty and super easy dish...can be made in microwave too..
so noella this one is for you too...coz u asked me the recipe and I am sorry I didnt have it written down...now u can try to make it..and trust me it tastes awesome!!

Ingredients: (makes 10 servings)
  1. 5 medium sized sweet apples (peeled and cored and chopped)
  2. 9 tbsp sugar
  3. 1 cup all purpose flour
  4. 3/4 cup oats
  5. 10 tbsp butter (semi- soft) / margarine
  6. 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  7. 1 tbsp lemon juice
  8. 1/2 tbsp cinnamon
  9. 1/3 cup brown sugar
Method:
  • Preheat oven for 350 F
  • take chopped apples in a bowl, add 3 tbsp sugar, lime and half cinnamon.
  • In a baking pan spread the apples and cook them for 5 min (till the turn semi soft)
  • In another bowl take all purpose flour, oats, 6 tbsp sugar, walnuts, remaining cinnamon and butter and mix it till it forms a crumbly mixture. I like the crunchy texture oats add to the crumble.
  • spread this mixture on semi cooked apples
  • spread brown sugar over the mixture, it gives a nice caramelized look.
  • bake it for 30 min or till the crumble looks nice golden brown and apples are soft and bubbly.
  • serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream...

Enjoy this delicious treat!!!

Step 2
Tip:
  • If you feel that the crumble is getting too dry or burnt then drizzle some melted butter over it.
  • If you like your apples less cooked then do not cook them alone, spread the mix over the uncooked apples and bake for 30 min...let it remain in oven for 10- 15 min after you turn it off...that softens the apples some bit without over cooking it...
  • try both the ways and find out for yourself which one you like better ;)
