conversations of crow n koyal

jus felt like writing this poem....we had it in hindi text in 6th or 7th grade.....my apologies for any mistakes..wrote as i remembered it...n sorry for "ek"...cant seem to get it in hindi....dont know why....

drumsticks...

today at anu's place we made drumsticks the way we make at home...for the first time on my own......of course took mom's help in brushing up the procedure over the phone...also mithu n anu were there to help me.....

ingredients :
  • 2 or 3 drumsticks (peeled n chopped)
  • 3 -4 tablespoons of roasted besan (chana flour)
  • dry masala ....chilly powder ,turmeric powder (haldi),coriander seed & cumin powder (dhana jeeru) asofoetida (hing)
  • 3-4 tablespoons yogurt
  • 2 -3 tablespoon cooking oil
  • salt to taste

Method:

take oil in pan....cook drumsticks in the oil...add salt to drumsticks as much required...add little water to help drumsticks to get cooked...once they r cooked add dry masala and chilly ginger paste to it..

side by side roast chana flour on a tava (pan)....constantly stir the flour else it sticks to pan n burns....also add dry masala to the flour n roast it.....once the flour is roasted to dark yellow turn off the flame....n put the flour in another plate immediately...dont keep it in hot vessel even after the flame is off coz the flour can get burnt even in the heat of the vessel.

also keep roasted groundnuts crushed...once drumsticks r cooked well add groundnut powder to it....let it mix well with drumsticks...add some water....

once groundnut n drumsticks r mixed well...add roasted chana flour to it......mix it well...add salt as per required for groundnuts n flour...after 1 to 2 min add yogurt.....n let drumsticks n groundnut n chana flour blend well together...let it simmer for a while....n ur delicious drumstick vegetable is ready to eat with chapati , roti, paratha etc etc

sorry folks have tried to put pics of jus two steps.....soon will learn to write n click as many pics as tanvi....she writes recipes wonderfully.....and cant put up the final cooked pic as the pic has not been uploaded from camera uncleji n auntyji have taken the camera with them :(

time check...

well today i went for apoorva's (apu's) mehendi function......rehena shikha chitra were there too....missed pranu n mohini...mohini cud not come coz she is in wai as her grandmom recently expired....she intends to be in mumbai by saturday...so hopefully we can meet her on sunday....and well as for pranu..dont really know...after her wedding its been difficult to keep up with her n she has been really busy...didnt come for either shika's or apu's engagement...n now she is unlikely to come for apu's wedding on sunday.....

anyways this is not why i m writin this post....today apu asked me to remove her contact lenses from her eyes as she cud not do so coz of mehendi on her hands....n i had not yet applied mehendi to mine....it transported me back in time...wen we were in pimpri...as paying guests at bhingawade aunty's home...and apu had got her first pair of contacts....n i had taught her to wear them n she had worn them properly but was unable to get them out....n there i was asking her to keep her eyes steady as i literally plucked lenses from her eyes....it was the same today....for a minute it was as if we were in college again.....in that same room which we shared for 4 yrs....the time had stood...as if nearly 1 and 1/2 yrs had not passed since we finished college.....as i told her yet again to keep her eyes steady as i got lenses out of her eyes...

THE GUY IN THE GLASS

When you get what you want in your struggle for self,
And the world makes you KING for a day,
Then go to the mirror and look at yourself,
And see what that guy has to say.

For it isn't your Father or Mother or Wife,
Who judgement upon which you must pass,
The feller whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the guy staring back from the glass.

He's the feller to please ,never mind all the rest,
For he's with you clear up the end,
And you've passed your most dangerous difficult test
If the guy in the glass is your friend.

You may be like Jack Horner and "chisel" a plum,
And think you're a wonderful guy,
But the man in the glass says you're only a bum
If you cant look him straight in the eye.

You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years,
And get pats on the back as you pass,
But your final reward will be heartaches and tears
If you've cheated the guy in the glass
-Dale Wimbrow

nice poem na....had to share it wen i read it....hope we all can live upto the expectations of our guy /gal in the glass :)

test players missing :(

yesterday was the felicitation of our TEAM INDIA for winning the one tournament in australia....
i was disappointed to see jus the one day squad being felicitated....

kumble, dravid, ganguly, laxman ,r p singh, jaffer were no where to be seen...
read an article by ayaz memon..who shared my thoughts on the topic so felt nice n so putting his words in my post

i m not against BCCI felicitating the team or against giving them money...but i felt the test squad shd also have got their due...where BCCI spent 10 crores amongst one day squad it cud have spent few more..or 10 crores cud have been divided amongst the entire team.....

so true....the whole tournament so so stressful..it was no less stressful for the test team...and had there not been major umpiring goof ups in sydney which we lost just coz of sheer bad luck....m sure we all remember how in the last few minutes of the game micheal clark got 3 wickets...else that match wud surely have been a draw....and so india cud have easily equalled the series if not won the test series.

the achievement of the test team shd have been acknowledged...

wen false allegations were made on harbhajan kumble alongwith the rest of the test team stood by him and urged BCCI to do the same...

playing under so much pressure and winning the Perth test was no simple task.....captaincy of kumble had been splendid throughout the test series....when the chips were down he was there motivating the youngsters....all seniors with their experience and keeping cool head over their shoulders took responsibility and stood up to the task....not letting the youngsters get discouraged....winning the perth test was the turning point in the tournament.....the win at Perth showed team india that aussies were not invinceble...and gave our boys the much needed boost and confidence....the seeds of the one day victory had been sown in the test series...

as ayaz memon aptly put it WITHOUT THE HEROISM OF TEST TEAM .....WOULD THE VICTORY IN ONE DAY BEEN POSSIBLE ?

india triumphs down under......

its been a great tour...n m glad that india has stood up to the challenge both on n off the the field...
hope the aussie media learn now that they should not indulge in such petty things and hopefully they dont write non sense like they did abt our players esp harbhajan..
as dhoni rightly said wat r they gonna write abt now bhajji is goin home tomorrow...well lets hope they find better thing to write abt....
had there had not been so many wrong decisions in the sydney match then test series too wud have been tied....
ricky ponting was too over confident when at the eve of the finals he said there wont be a need for 3 rd game...well there is no need for the 3rd match but in a slightly altered way and m sure ricky ponting wud not have imagined this....
serves him right for being so arrogant..
well dhoni is a very good person alongwith being a good cricketer and a great captain....i m saying this coz after the match he did not life the trophy but called his team and then said सबसे छोटा कौन है ...and then piyush chawla came forward n lifted the trophy then the rest of the team...

felt great to see the wonderful teamspirit amongst these boys....and the way they gel n do masti....was good to see shreesanth dancing during the vicory lap...his break dance is great to watch...but he was doing bhangra with yuvi too...and amongst all this dhoni was aside allowing the team to bask in the glory...maybe he had gone in to treat his broken hand....imagine he played with his injured right hand....

also its a great mix of aggressive and cool nature...dhoni himself is very cool and calm and composed....
with shreesanth n yuvraj n harbhajan showing aggresion....irfan being cool...n so was praveen kumar who took 4 wickets and was man of match...man he was super cool...even the expressions on his face didnt change....and of course we cant forget SACHIN for his performances in both the finals....his mere presence inspires the junior players...and all those who say that sachin is interested in improving his record तेल पीवा जाओ
as the team won the game n was doin the victory lap and passing the trophy he genuinely looked so happy even though he got out on 91....

this new team is shaping up to be a great team...great mix of youth and experience....after the 20-20 world cup win this one more win has boosted the team n shown the world wat they can do...its nice to see this confidance n i hope we go on to win many more matches n tournament...

CHAK DE INDIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

grey's anatomy

well finally they r starting the 3rd season of grey's anatomy in india....have been waiting for it since a long long time....n now m so excited....india is one season behind usa so i guess i ll get to know whats gonna happen next from tanvi....i love talking abt grey's anatomy with her....she too like me is a big time fan of greys anatomy....

i love the name of the show.....everybody who goes into medical n allied fields is scared of gray's anatomy....now a days though in india we dont really read it as its too big.........thats what makes is so scary...but its still the most revered book i think....i guess after 12th wen v get into med school or dental school gray's anatomy is told to read by our teachers...but with the duration of course cut short its jus not possible....so the name grey's anatomy immediately strikes a chord with all the doctors n reminds us of our wonderful med school / dental school days....

also a word abt Dr Henry Gray.....well in the good old days he used to dig up freshly buried bodies in the middle of the night so that no one saw him dig..then in candle light he used to dissect the body at nights n make notes...thats how he wrote the book...and all his findings r relevant n true even today...nobody has discarded his findings as incorrect or whatever....although the book has increased in thickness manyfolds....and many new things have been added whatever he wrote is also being followed...great na...he is father of anatomy n we all owe him a lot...

more abt the show...i like everyone in the show...all the characters n actors r amazing..love all the lovestories goin on side by side...the songs they have going on in the background r jus too good....

its also nice to see that the writers n directors research well n whatever n watever is shown in the show is true...otherwise most of the times what they show in these med school dramas or hospital sequences r outright stupid n nonsense...

n in each show there are 2 to 3 good cases shown...so its interesting...whenever my dad is watching the show with me he always comments everything they show correctly..like the ECG (EKG) they show on the monitor...the drugs the doctor gives to the patient or shouts in emergency.....dad is right..hmmm correct decision :)

amongst all the actors special mention has to be made of dr derek shepherd (Peter Dempsey)....love him both the actor n character....but sometimes hate derek jus coz he tries to be too correct at times...

on that note signing off for now.....eagerly waiting for sunday night 9 pm...
